Assortment story builder

A buyer presentation is seven parts: buyer, story, trade facts, 3 to 8 products, their finishes, and one next step. Fill them in below, copy the outline, and build the same story as a Poly9 collection buyers open on a phone.

An assortment story is the one-paragraph logic behind a buyer presentation. It says who it is for, which room and material it covers, which 3 to 8 products carry it, and what the buyer does next. This tool drafts it as plain text in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere until you decide to build it as a collection.

Your outline

Make it a live collection

Add these products to Poly9, and the same outline becomes a link: buyers tap a finish, ask in the chat, and request a quote priced from your rules or marked price on request.

What a working outline does

Story before catalog

Buyers do not want the whole line. They want the five to eight products that answer "what is new, what finishes, what lead time, what next".

Options in the open

A PDF hides finishes in an appendix. The outline puts them under every product, and the collection shows them as swatches the buyer taps.

Trade facts before price

MOQ, lead time and terms screen a buyer faster than a price does. They sit in the outline; the price waits for a rule or says price on request.

One next step

The outline ends with a single action. The collection makes that action possible on the page: ask, configure, request a quote.

Four ways people use it

01

Exporter before IHGF

Six metal pieces, three finishes each, MOQ and FOB port. Copy the outline into the booth brief, then build the collection and print its QR code for the stand.

02

Showroom on the floor

One story across three brands for a designer who wants a coastal living room. In Poly9 the collection pulls each product from its own brand and prices from that brand’s rules.

03

Manufacturer line review

Eight products, the spring story, finishes and lead times. The team reviews the text; the reps send the collection link.

04

Textile mill program pitch

A guest-room linen program: king and queen sets, five colourways, lead time by quantity. The outline holds the facts; the collection holds the size-by-colourway grid.

Questions about the tool

Is this a template, or can I build it live in Poly9?
Both. The outline is plain text you can paste anywhere: a booth brief, an email, a planning note. The live version is a Poly9 collection with the same products, where buyers tap finishes, ask in the chat and request a quote priced from your rules or marked price on request.
Should the outline include prices?
Only certified ones. The outline reserves a pricing line that says "certified where a rule exists, otherwise price on request", which is the same rule the collection follows. Trade facts (MOQ, lead time, terms) go in; guessed prices stay out.
How many products should I include?
Between three and eight. Three is enough to make a story readable; eight is the most a buyer will hold in one screen. If the story needs more, it is two stories, and the tool lets you clear and start the second one in a minute.
Can a showroom use it across several brands?
Yes. Write one story and list products from any brand you carry. In Poly9 the same collection pulls each product from its own brand, prices each from that brand’s rules, and gives the designer one link and one quote.
Does anything I type leave my browser?
No. The tool runs in the page, and the outline exists only in your browser until you copy or download it. Nothing is sent to Poly9 or anyone else. Building the collection is a separate step you take in your own account.
Does this replace a line sheet?
It gives a line sheet its structure: story, products, finishes, trade facts, next step. A static line sheet still works for procurement systems that require one. A collection does what the sheet cannot: the buyer configures, sees the piece and asks for the quote in one place.
